Does the GEO need to be set differently depending on the set up of the car? what I mean is if the cars stock would the GEO be same as if it had been lowered or had 18's on or does it need to be altered depending on future mods, if that makes sense
Putting 18" wheels on your car shouldn't affect the geo. Lowering it means you need to "recover" the geo after the lowering, i.e. set it back to the proper geo settings.
Other factors can possibly put the geo out slightly, e.g. fitting uprated ARBs can make it stiffer and possibly sit a bit differently.
However, what I think you may be asking is that if the car is lowered, the actual geo settings that you set it to can be slightly different, e.g. the IS200 can take more negative camber if it is lowered.
Yes, if you alter the ride height then the geo will be altered significantly, and then the geo will need recovering to get it back into the correct range.
For the modified chassis the OEM suggested positions are redundant. As a calibrator i have to know what modifications have been made and what intentions there are for the car. Born from this a unique chassis set-up needs to evolve in order to compliment the mods.
Was there not a post before on the *** that said you can get something to help you do the GEO if the car had been lowered . I seam to remember something but not sure what.
???????????

So for unmodified are the OEM settings ok? is it only when you start changing things they become useless or are the no good from the start? basically I want the GEO sorting on a standard car for now but I may be going lower in the future just not anytime time soon, have you got a list of variants for different mods and lower ride heights or are all cars unique and require there own specific settings? as you can tell I don't really know much about it all
The OEM (Lexus) settings are rubbish for an unmodified car - poor handling and uneven tyre wear. The WIM settings will be much, much better, even for a standard car.
That's what I thought it's when Tony said about modified chassis's the settings are rubbish, I thought I best double check for un-modified. So for now I need the correct settings for a standard car and then if I get it lowered I will need the settings depending on the drop or does it not work like that?
You need the WIM settings for a decent setup on a standard car. If you lower it then that will mess up the geo and it will need adjusting to get it back to the WIM settings. Though Tony may be able to advice on setting it slightly differently if lowered, as he mentioned (e.g. I think mine has more negative camber once lowered).
Haven't the OEM settings been updated though? I remember a thread a while back saying a dealer was using settings similar to the WIM ones - but then Lexus failed to comment about any previous error being corrected.......
It's possible that some dealers might use the WIM settings, but I wouldn't bank on it. I don't think there's been any kind of official change to use those, I suspect that will be on an individual basis.
Right I get it now, set it to WIM's settings when stock, then if lowered it'll need re-setting to WIM's settings, I was getting abit confused thinking there was a big list of different settings for different mods right hopefully that's my braindead moment out of the way for today
